New appointment to West Sussex County Council’s Cabinet

The leader of West Sussex County Council, Councillor Paul Marshall, has today confirmed the appointment of Cllr Garry Wall to the cabinet at the Council.

Cllr Wall will take responsibility for the work of the council in supporting the local economy with a range of organisations across the county and working with businesses and the further education sector to promote employment skills.

This addition to the cabinet will enable it to deal with the additional task of responding to the government’s proposals for devolution and local government reorganisation. Cllr Steve Waight, already a member of the cabinet at the county council, will take on responsibility for that work.

Cllr Wall brings great experience both as a former leader of Mid Sussex District Council and as a prominent member of a range of boards across Sussex bringing local businesses and leaders together to drive economic growth.

Cllr Marshall said: “It is important for the residents, communities and businesses of West Sussex that they are served and supported by a strong cabinet which contains the experience, knowledge and skills to continue to strengthen and deliver the council’s priorities. The addition of Cllr Wall to the cabinet will further strengthen our delivery and I look forward to working with him.”

Cllr Wall said: “I am proud to have been appointed to the council’s cabinet and will continue to work tirelessly for the people of West Sussex using all of my previous experiences to continue to deliver on the council’s priorities.”
