A unique opportunity has arisen to join our small school team as our year 1/2 teacher during the mornings. You would be working as part of a supportive, dedicated team with a small class teaching maths, phonics and English.

Slindon CofE Primary School is a small, rural school with a big heart. Our school vision suggests that we are one big family, who want to ensure the very best for the children in our care. We are exceptionally lucky to be in an area of outstanding natural beauty and encourage our children to get outside as much as possible. If the idea of working in a small school excites you and you believe you can contribute to our family ethos, we can offer you a hard-working, supportive team, CPD opportunities and most importantly, delightful children.

The successful candidates will:

• be enthusiastic, caring and innovative and have good interpersonal and communication skills within our team
• have an enthusiasm for teaching in year 1/2 and are able to be flexible in your planning as you are teaching a mixed year group.
• be a clear, supportive teacher in relation to classroom behaviour, listening to children and having high expectations, within our school policies and ethos
• to have an understanding of the graduated response for children with additional needs and to include high quality and carefully planned adaptions in all school lessons and experiences
• being a proactive practitioner to develop excellent parent professional relationships
• to be committed to the wider running of our small schools, taking initiative and being flexible and supportive to colleagues, overseeing after school clubs, attending meetings, actively being involved in school performances, and going above and beyond for the children and families in your class
• enthusiasm for different aspects of the curriculum and an ability to enthuse others.

We can offer you:
• A caring and friendly staff who support each other and work as a team
• A school ethos of care and understanding of individual children’s needs
• Welcoming children who are keen to learn
• Relevant training and mentoring to support your role.

If you would like to know more about this role, we warmly encourage you to come and have a look around the school, meet the children and the staff. Please email Karen Cooper, at office@slindonprimary.co.uk or call 01243 814330.

Slindon Church of England Primary and West Sussex County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to an appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service check along with other relevant employment checks, including satisfactory references.
