Due to retirement of our existing SENDCo, St. Augustine's Church of England Primary School is seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) to lead our SEND provision and uphold our commitment to inclusive education. We are a voluntary controlled Church of England primary school serving a close-knit community in Scaynes Hill, West Sussex, offering a nurturing environment where all students feel valued and supported. We have a Pupil Admission Number (PAN) of 15 per year group. We maintain strong links with St. Augustine's Church, reflecting our commitment to Christian values and community engagement. Their respectful behaviour and ability to manage themselves contribute to a positive and inclusive school culture. The Role As our SENDCo, you will: Lead and develop the school's SEND and inclusion provision. Collaborate with staff, families, and external specialists to ensure students receive tailored support. Implement inclusive strategies that benefit all learners, including those with neurodivergence, sensory sensitivities, and additional needs. Provide professional development for staff to enhance inclusive teaching practices. Oversee Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) applications, reviews, and compliance with SEND legislation. What We Are Looking For We are seeking a compassionate, proactive, and skilled leader who: Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and has experience in SEND provision. Possesses or is willing to obtain the National Award for SEND Coordination. Has a strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and best practices in inclusive education. Can effectively support students with a wide range of additional needs, including those with sensory processing challenges through the effective implementation of OAIP strategies.
