Downsbrook Primary, part of the Schoolsworks Academy Trust since 2018, is a vibrant and rapidly improving school with high ambitions and a clear and determined sense of purpose and vision.  Together the leadership and staff team are carving a new path for Downsbrook: we are moving from strength to strength and the impact is visible on the experiences of our pupils and staff. Joining Downsbrook at this time, gives an opportunity to contribute to our exciting journey of school improvement and to inspire and motivate pupils to reach their full potential and achieve high standards.

We are looking for prospective candidates with a very good understanding of high quality teaching and learning for children with SEND to work in ‘The Windmill’ which is a Total Communication environment supporting children with a range of communication needs.

We welcome applications from excellent practitioners who wish to further their skills and knowledge of SEND and, in particular, of working with children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).  Within our mainstream school we educate children with a broad range of special educational needs and disabilities, including communication and interaction needs, visual and hearing impairment, as well as children with diagnoses including Autism and Down Syndrome. Children who access ‘The Windmill’ benefit from our specialist small class with bespoke provision with a high adult-child ratio, as well as integrating with their mainstream classes. Specialist SEND teachers and class teachers work closely together to plan and deliver provision for each individual in relation to their EHCP.

We are at an exciting time in our journey of development with support children with complex needs and are looking for a innovative, dynamic, creative practitioner who is able to think on their feet, whilst ensuring that a focus on inclusion and belonging underpins all that they do.

Prospective candidates will have a very good understanding of high quality teaching and learning, together with a firm grasp of how to promote excellent behaviour. They will be responsible for planning, resourcing, assessment tracking and delivering an excellent provision of learning to this wonderful group of children.

In return we can offer you:-
- A supportive environment in which to grow as a professional
- The opportunity to be part of a friendly and supportive team
- A dedicated Trust SEND Manager who will support you as you establish your role
- Collaborative working across all 10 schools in the Trust
- Excellent career development opportunities
- A wonderful group of children to work with

Applicants should clearly state on the application form their current expertise and previous experience.  For a list of essential and/or desirable criteria please see the personal specification and job description available to download alongside this advert.
