Roles and pay

It’s important to note that most of these roles will be advertised as term time only. Therefore, the salaries listed reflect a full time 37 hours per a week over 52 weeks in a year, so part time and term time only roles will be pro-rata to reflect the working hours and weeks.

Our roles

  • School business managers oversee the efficient day-to-day running of a school and support the headteacher and leadership team. You will manage the school budget, keep accounts up to date for inspection, recruit, train and manage school support staff, and make sure the school security, and health and safety policies are followed.

  • The Premises Officer is responsible for assisting the sites team in the maintenance and security of the school premises and site, to ensure a safe working environment.

    You will ensure the buildings and site is secure, including during out of school hours and take remedial action if required. You will also keep records relating to maintenance and compliance, as well as operate and regularly check systems such as heating, cooling, lighting, security and alarms.

    As part of this role, you will undertake minor repairs (for example, not requiring qualified craftsperson) and maintenance of the buildings and site.

  • Under the direction of the Support Manager, the Mid-Day Supervisor’s role is to ensure the smooth running of the hot meals, packed lunches and the supervision of children at lunchtime play.

  • As an office/admin assistant, you will ensure the first contact with the school is welcoming and professional.

    Under the instruction and guidance of senior staff, you will organise educational visits and extra-curricular activities. You will maintain pupil attendance and provide general administrative support to the school as required.

    • To contribute to pupil development including academic, physical and mental well-being.
    • To support teaching and learning in the classroom, understanding and support independent learning and inclusion of all pupils, providing general and specific assistance to pupils under the direction, guidance and direct supervision of the class teacher.

    • To work with teachers to support teaching and learning, providing specialist support to the teacher in an aspect of the curriculum, age range or additional needs. Sometimes working with pupils with demanding behavioural needs and provide learning activities for individuals and groups of pupils under the professional direction and supervision of a qualified teacher.

    • To collaborate with teachers in planning and delivering programmes of teaching and learning activities for classes. The focus may be to undertake educational activities with individuals, groups and whole classes within a framework agreed with and under the overall direction and supervision of a qualified teacher.

      It may involve planning, preparing and delivering assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities to individuals, small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities as necessary under the overall direction and supervision of a teacher, and/or providing special support to children with specific needs within the classroom environment.
  • Summary of key accountabilities

    • To supervise whole classes undertaking pre-prepared activities provided by a teacher during the short-term absence of a classroom teacher. The primary focus is to maintain order and to keep pupils on task. In some circumstances staff occasionally may be exposed to demanding behaviours and situations with dealing with pupils needs.

The primary focus is to undertake educational activities with individuals, groups and whole classes within a framework agreed with and under the overall direction and supervision of a qualified teacher.

      This role may include working with pupils with demanding behavioural needs and regular supervision of other staff.
  • To provide a high-quality educational experience for all students, including provision for health, safety and welfare in line with current teacher pay and conditions document and National Standards for Teachers. Unqualified Teachers would not hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

  • To carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require and in accordance with the school's policies under the direction of the Headteacher.

    To be an effective professional who demonstrates thorough curriculum knowledge, can teach and assess effectively, take responsibility for professional development and has students who achieve well. Teachers will need to hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • The Lead Practitioner will support all departments, providing strategic support by:

    • delivering outstanding teaching and learning within lessons and intervention sessions at all academies
    • providing a coaching and mentoring role for staff and students in intervention programmes within the departments
  • In a leadership role, you may be responsible for leading and management of the curriculum, delivering high-quality teaching, contributing to whole school self-evaluations and school improvement planning and developing staff by offering guidance and support, modelling best practices and sharing up-to-date knowledge of current theory and practice.

    Duties in a leadership role may look different in different settings.

  • Headteachers manage schools and create the right conditions for children and staff to achieve their best.

    This role provides professional leadership for the school which secures its success and improvement, ensuring high quality education which inspires and motivates its pupils and improves standards of learning and achievement.
