What we do

  • We are the UK's biggest mixed youth organisation. We change lives by offering 4 to 25-year-olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in communities.
  • Scouts helps children and young adults reach their full potential. Scouts develop skills including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment.
  • Scouts take part in activities as diverse as kayaking, abseiling, expeditions overseas, photography, climbing and zorbing. Scouts can learn survival skills, first aid, computer programming, or even how to fly a plane. There's something for everyone!
  • The cost, often known as 'subs', is set by each local Scout Group, but is likely to be £150 per year, which is collected monthly or each term depending on local arrangements. Trips, camps and larger events are usually charged separately.
  • We are committed to being inclusive of all young people, regardless of ability or disability. Some venues are more accessible and better equipped than others. Contact us to discuss how your child can get involved.

Our users say

Scouting provides a second family to lots of young people. It's a safe place where they can aspire and grow. The real benefit is when your child comes home and says 'I did that' and they realise they can do something. It gives them confidence.
