St Dominic’s is a special school that caters for up to 150 pupils and Sixth Form students between the ages of 7 – 19, who have a range of academic abilities and complex needs.
The School has an in-house team of qualified therapists offering Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Sensory Integration. The range of therapeutic support available to pupils and students enables them to access the curriculum at an appropriate level, maximising each individual’s potential for achievement. Additionally, there are purpose-built medical facilities where nursing cover is provided on a daily basis by qualified staff.
We are extremely proud to hold Advanced Autism Accreditation through the National Autistic Society.
What we do
- We offer up to 100 placements either day or part-residential (Monday to Fridays), depending on the needs of the child or young person. Our pupils and students are all state-funded.
- Each child or young person benefits from the skills of specialist teachers, therapists and support staff. Our therapists work alongside teachers in the classroom as well as providing one-to-one sessions in speech and language and occupational therapies.
- The curriculum is individualised for each pupil and student and the skills learnt are transferable, with appropriate planning and support, into the home, the local community and future placements.
- Our results show better educational attainment for our pupils and students than mainstream schools and 100% track record of leavers' pathways into education or work.
- The school works closely in partnership with families, referring authorities and external agencies to coordinate the best possible education, care, guidance and support for its children and young people.

Our users say
After 4 years of being in the wrong educational settings, my son finally is happy to go to school every day. The staff continuously keeps parents informed of any difficulties. What is abundantly clear is how much all the staff care!
