1 Apply
Applications must only be submitted when:
- works are taking place within a 50-metre radius of an existing bus stop
- the traffic management is within 50 metres of the bus stop and will interfere with the bus stop maintaining a service to the public or disrupt the general flow of traffic
Applications must be made at least three weeks in advance, if applicable, to allow suitable time for any processes including, but not limited to, the potential assessments of temporary bus stops to cover the duration of works.
Complete the application form below and provide a traffic management plan.
You must:
- supply individual bus stop identity details - bus stop ID's can be found on Google (opens in a new tab) by clicking on the actual bus stop - all ID's are prefixed by WSX, for example, "wsxdgpag".
- include contact details of your site agent and the location where the proposed works are taking place
It is the applicant’s responsibility to notify the Local Transport Improvements Team in adequate time to cancel an application.
Any amendments or extensions from the original application will require a new application to be submitted which will incur an additional cost.
For emergency related works, notification is required on the day of works taking place or sooner, however an application must be made retrospectively to cover costs incurred by the process.
For works that require a road closure instead of a traffic management plan, a diversion route should be provided. Any stops located along the road closure will require a suspension form to be completed.
Please note that in the first instance a road space booking must be directed through our streetworks team before any bus stop suspension application is made. On the permit that is submitted to streetworks it must be highlighted that a bus stop suspension will be applied for. This is to ensure that all permissions are obtained before a permit is granted.
Email street.works@westsussex.gov.uk to enquire about booking road space.

This fee will be non-refundable once the application has been submitted.
What is the fee?
Bus stops and bus stand suspensions are charged at £379 per stop. An additional charge will be made if failure to carry out the works within the agreed dates is not possible and new dates are required.
Notice and a new application will need to be provided to the Local Transport Improvements Team.
